The Creative Enterprise Challenge
The Creative Enterprise Challenge is a dynamic platform designed to spotlight and empower African and diaspora-owned Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the cultural and creative industries (CCIs). Launched as part of Africa Unveiled during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Challenge will identify, fund, and accelerate promising ventures that demonstrate innovation, social impact, and global potential.

Overview and Purpose
The Creative Enterprise Challenge aims to showcase and empower African and diaspora-owned SMEs in the creative Economy sector.
The challenge provides a platform for businesses to highlight their creativity, innovation, and impact and position Africa’s creative entrepreneurs as strategic contributors to global culture and development by providing access to funding, mentorship, visibility, and networks through a high-impact pitch competition and support program.

Thematic Focus Areas
The challenge focuses on specific thematic areas within the cultural sector, such as:
- Fashion & Textiles
- Music & Performing Arts
- Visual Arts & Design
- Film, Animation & Gaming
- Publishing & Digital Media
- Culinary Arts
- Cultural Technology & Digital Platforms
Participants are encouraged to align their work with these themes to be considered for the challenge.

Format and Structure
Structured as a hybrid pitch and mentorship program, the Creative Enterprise Challenge invites selected finalists to undergo business development coaching and storytelling support before pitching their ideas or enterprises live at the Africa Unveiled event in New York City.
The challenge consists of multiple rounds of judging, with participants presenting their work to a panel of industry experts.

2. Screening & Shortlisting – Based on innovation, impact, feasibility, and cultural relevance.
3. Capacity Workshops – Virtual training on business development, storytelling, and fundraising.
4. Final Pitch Showcase – Live competition in New York before a jury and audience.
5. Awards & Fellowship – Seed funding, mentorship, media exposure, and partnership linkages.

Eligibility
The Creative Enterprise Challenge is designed to spotlight and support high-potential creative enterprises led by Africans and members of the diaspora.
-Participants must be African or diaspora-owned SME or startups (1–10 years in operation)
- Operating in a recognized creative industry
- Must demonstrate a business or social model with growth potential and cultural relevance

Judging Criteria
A jury composed of leading voices in entrepreneurship, investment, and creative leadership will assess pitches for innovation, scalability, cultural relevance, and social impact.

Winners of the challenge will receive a combination of cash prizes, mentorship opportunities, media exposure, and introductions to potential investors and strategic partners.
